First Khador Warjack
Hey all, switching gears here for a bit... quite a few months ago I bought the Warmachine box set to try and branch out from 40k. I filed and partially assembled the models to ready them for priming and then they sat because of other projects and time constraints, but yesterday had some time after work and decided to give one ago. Painted this warjack in about 5 hours and fairly happy with it. Using GW paint still and have been told i should really switch to P3 to paint this guys for a more vibrant color, but not sure i want to invest in more paints as i currently have so so much citidel. Also, tried to follow the paint schema as close to 'default' as possible, but don't really like the gold on the stock models, so thought i would try the tin bits color... not sure i am really happy with this either, so may do some more minor adjustments soon... Anyhow, i have no other 40k projects in my near future, so might actually get this box set done in the next couple months and actually try and learn how to play this game! ;)

I think he looks good. I don't know if you need to go out and buy all new paints to get a good look.
The only thing I'd like to see is a bit more contrast in the red areas... like some shading similar to how the rest of the areas on the model are treated. That might help define the shapes overall (like around the rivets).
Otherwise, good job.

Also if you want that Tin Bitz to look a little bit more dynamic lightly drybrush the edges with Boltgun or Chainmail. You don't want to go heavy with this, just enough to catch the edges and give them some contrast with the Tin Bitz. It'll give it more pop and if you don't like it you can easily cover it back up.
Nice job, I got into the whole Warmachine/Hordes thing about a year ago now and am in love. The models are a great deal of fun and the rules are a nice mix of simplicity (no min maxing minor variations on models) and complex (Strategy and tactics seem much more important than in other games I have played). Remember that you can do whatever you like with the color schemes just as long as they look good so If you want to mix it up, go for it. I got good results creating deeper shadows on my Knights of the White wolf (in red armor) by actually starting with a black basecoat and building up through crimson gore to blood red and even blood angels red/orange on the tips. Took a fair bit of time, but with using only 20-50 models for even big games you can take your time and really make your battleforce stand out if you like.
